Getting access through a new account

Hi everyone,

I have lost access to my prevoius github account since my pc was restored and my passkeys were deleted.

Now i have created a new profile and would like to get access to Github Education Benefits. But since my old account has already been used to obtain academic discounts, i get below error when creating an application.
"
There was an error creating the discount request. Errors: Discount request could not be created. Discount request errors: [Student email adress] has already been used to obtain an academic discount on GitHub account(s) [Former acoount]."

I have already unlinked my student email from my former account, but can I do something else?

Hi @N1BACH,

Unfortunately, student benefits can't be transferred from one account to another.

It’s not possible to transfer Global Campus benefits over from one GitHub account to another.

However, you are able to merge your accounts, but the account with the benefits would be the main account. You can add your non-academic email from the previous account to the account containing the academic email. If you desire you can then rename this account once merged. For more details check out out the merging of your personal accounts documentation.

I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and ask them to revoke your student benefits on your old account so that you can apply with the new one.
