✅ 1. Check if you are part of an organization on your personal GitHub account, or via a GitHub organization that has Codespaces billing enabled. If you were previously using Codespaces under an organization's billing and you're no longer a member, you’ll lose access unless you enable personal billing. ✅ 2. Verify your personal billing settings Check under “Codespaces” tab if personal billing is set up. If not, click “Enable Personal Account Billing for Codespaces”. Make sure you have a valid payment method on file, even if you're on a free plan (some setups require this to continue). ✅ 3. Confirm usage quota To verify: Go to https://github.com/settings/codespaces Scroll down to “Usage” and review your hours used. ✅ 4. Check your organization’s Codespaces policy (if applicable) Visit the organization settings → Codespaces. Ensure the organization allows Codespaces and is correctly configured for billing. ✅ 5. GitHub Status Page https://www.githubstatus.com ✅ 6. Last resort: GitHub Support Submit a support request Make sure to include: Your username Screenshot or exact message Approximate last time Codespaces worked |

This is being reported by everyone else with a free plan. My code is now locked behind a paywall, or a bug. There's 20 other people I know here that it doesn't work. |

The message in the title occurs whenever I try to do anything related to Codespaces, including going to the Codespaces homepage, opening a Codespace, or creating a new Codespace. I last used Codespaces about two weeks ago with no error, so it has occurred sometime between then and now.
From what I have found in other discussions, this seems to occur most frequently when free usage has ran out. However, I receive emails when usage has been used up, but have not received any emails this month. Additionally, the "billing and licensing" section of my account settings does not show anything out of the ordinary: under the usage tab, all the amounts are listed as $0. I have also tried clearing my site data for Github, but that did not change anything either.
Do you have any ideas for what is causing this error or how I can fix it? Any help is appreciated.
